GOBIERNO FILIPINO INCLUYE AL AJEDREZ EN EL CURRICULO DE SUS ESCUELAS

Before the start of the Tele-Meeting, the Chairman made the following statement:

"Dear colleagues, as FIDE is making order with arbiters, the same has to be done with the trainers and the Academies. We know well about serious activities in Berlin, Singapore and New York Academies. But for the others we have no information as they had no obvious activity and no serious trainers stuff.

So, our first step is to develop the common syllabus. Second we want to have yearly plans from Academies. We simply want to help them to operate efficiently. So, for not looking that some of them just wanted one time support from FIDE, but to continue operating. We will offer help to every Academy (of course except the first two, which have trainers and organizational power).

For South America we don’t have a serious base there, except the possibility of the Edami Academy, with the developed Internet training with Trainers’ Commission (TRG) syllabus. If I am not mistaken some Academies were created not for the TRG but for the CACDEC. Anyhow we must create common position on every issue in the Council of the TRG and then consult the General Secretary and only then propose to FIDE Presidential Board (PB)."

Philippine President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo approved inclusion of chess in schools curriculum in primary and secondary schools across the country. National Chess Federation of the Philippines (NCFP) President Prospero Pichay and Department of Education Secretary Jesli A. Lapus signed the Memorandum of Agreement the other day launching the National Chess Academy. Witnessing the signing were NCFP secretary-general Mayor Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino, NCFP Director Brother Roly Dizon, NCFP Executive Director Willie Abalos and Department of Education officials.
